STUDENTS IN ISLAND CLEAN-UP

Students from Ss. Peter and Paul School on St. Thomas participated in the Hassell Island Clean Sweep on December 8. The event was organized by the National Parks Service, the St. Thomas Historical Trust, Essence Properties, the Office of the Governor and the Volunteers of Lindqvist Transformation.

 

AID FOR MUSIC PROGRAM

 

Stanley Olive, Vice President of Commercial Loans at Banco Popular, presented $1,000 to Rev. Dr. George Franklin, Principal of Ss. Peter and Paul School on St. Thomas, for the school's music program at morning assembly on December 19. The donation, arranged by the MLK Creative marketing company, will help fund the school's steel pan band, Angels of Steel.

 

PREPARING FOR FIRST COMMUNION

Catechists Bernadette Palton and Merle Seepersad prepare young parishioners at St. Joseph Church on St. Croix for their first communion every Saturday morning in the parish's Hospitality Lounge and Learning Center.

 

PREPARING HIGH SCHOOLERS FOR COLLEGE

Antoine Joseph, a professor of History and Sociology at Bryant University in Providence, Rhode Island, returned to his native St. Croix and spoke to St. Joseph High School seniors on January 11 about what to expect during their first year of college.

Kenya Troutman, a freshman at Rutgers University in New Jersey and a 2007 graduate of St. Joseph High School on St. Croix, visited her alma mater on January 11. She shared her experiences of college life with the current high school students.
