Comedian Michael Winslow, actor in seven Police Academy movies, read to students of Ss. Peter and Paul School and Dover School on St. Thomas in the Ss. Peter and Paul School cafeteria on April 4. The event was sponsored by Mahogany Run and the Virgin Islands Public Library.

BIOLOGY FIELD TRIP

RICE BOWL

Students at St. Patrick School on St. Croix collected over $700 to give to the Operation Rice Bowl during Lent. The students gave some of their allowance monies, pennies they collected and candy money.

Operation Rice Bowl is an anti-hunger program of Catholic Relief Services, funding development projects around the world and in the United States.

SOLAR CAR CONTEST

Ss. Peter and Paul School won first, second and third place in the design category in the Solar Sprint Competition at Sunny Isle Shopping Center on St. Croix on March 16. The team, which consisted of eighth graders Richard Carter, Mikida Demming, Jordan Forney, Jacob Hieleman, Lisa Smith and Arsenio Watlington, also won second and fourth place in the race.

JUNIOR ASTRONOMERS

St. Joseph High School astronomy students on St.

Croix build telescopes, spectrocopes, quadrants, sun clocks and other devices to explore the universe.

QUIZ BOWL WINNERS

St. Patrick School won first place among St. Croix Middle Schools in the Virgin Islands District Quiz Bowl on March 20. Eighth graders Nerissa Washington, Robyn Moorehead and Tabitha Cuffy, and seventh graders Khalid James and Zarah Henderson advanced to the territorial competition in St. Thomas, where they placed third among Middle Schools in the Territorial Quiz Bowl on April 3.
