BISHOPS APPEAL
IS AT 92%
By May 23, the Bishops Appeal 2006 had reached ninety two percent of its goal, raising $390,000 since the beginning of Lent on March 1. Most Rev. George V. Murry, SJ, Bishop of the Diocese of St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands, is confident the campaign soon will reach its goal of $425,000 to supplement the ministries of Catholic Charities of the Virgin Islands and the four Catholic schools.
The campaign has surpassed last year's total of $375,000, largely because of an influx of new donors. So far, 1,115 benefactors have contributed to the cause, including an estimated 200 first time donors.
Those who have not yet participated are encouraged to pick up a brochure at the parishes.
