STUDENTS CARE
FOR THE
ENVIRONMENT

.MAY PROCESSION

Fr. Neil Scantlebury blessed an image of Mary before the May
Procession through Frenchtown on S1. Thomas on May 12. The
procession was organized by the Legion of Mary, Presidium Mary,
Mediatrix of All Graces, which meets at the S1. Anne Chapel Hall on
Sundays at 2:30 p.m.

Environmental Science students
at Ss. Peter and Paul High School
on S1. Thomas launched a non-profit
organization called Volunteers of
Lindqvist Transformation (VOLT) to
help care for the newly-acquired
public beach. The first beach study
and cleanup was on April 20.

This effort was rewarded in two
ways. The Magens Bay Authority
invited the students to participate in
a planning session and land survey,
and the Virgin Islands Coastal Zone
Management presented Patrick
Beuttler, the science teacher who
coordinated the effort, with their
Awareness Person of the Year'
Award.

Pictured above, students Ken I
Farrington, Michelle Gagliani and
Alex Asfour at Lindqvist Beach
compared their findings to their study
chart.

Dozens of children in parishes throughout the Virgin Islands received
the Sacrament of First Eucharist in May. Pictured above, the children at
Our Lady ofM1. Carmel Church on S1. John sang a meditation hymn, "The
Vow Is Made," after having received their First Communion.
