ASKING GOD'S PROTECTION AGAINST HURRICANES

St. Patrick Church on St. Croix celebrated a Hurricane Supplication Mass at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Pavilion on July 15. The annual Mass asking God for protection from storms and other disasters is the one time each year that the chapel in the rainforest is utilized. Fr. John McLoughlin, CSsR, Pastor of St. Patrick Church, was the main celebrant, assisted by Fr. Henrique Schulterbrant, CSsR., Deacon Edward Cave and Deacon Luis Soto. The Mass was followed by a picnic and an afternoon of games on the Mt. Pelier grounds.

SUMMER CAMP IS FUN

Big Island Adventure Summer Camp began at St. Mary School on St. Croix on June 11 and ran seven weeks. The camp offered 200 children on-campus activities including spirituality, art, drama, martial arts, team building, board games, swimming and special guest presentations. Off-campus activities included bowling, hiking, hand fishing, beach combing, kayaking, sailing, skateboarding, rollerblading and a ropes course. Swimming pools were installed for the children attending the camp.

Ss. Peter and Paul School and Holy Family Church on St. Thomas and St. Patrick School on St. Croix also hosted camps, and Catholic Charities of the Virgin Islands led a Shriver Camp for intellectually-challenged youth.
