PRIEST CELEBRATES 15TH ANNIVERSARY

Fr. Louis Kemayou, Administrator of St. Joseph Church on St. Croix, celebrated the 15th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood with a celebration in the parish's Hospitality Lounge and Learning Center on July 4. CASSI HILL PILGRIMAGE

Holy Family Church on St. Thomas will celebrate its 60th annual Our Lady of Cassi Hill pilgrimage with a procession, Mass, exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and benediction on Sunday, August 12. The pilgrimage begins with a procession from Four Winds Plaza beginning at 2:30 p.m. Upon arrival at the church, Mass will begin. Exposition and benediction follow at the adjacent Our Lady of Cassi Hill Shrine.

 

COLUMBAN HALL RETROSPECTIVE

Holy Family Church on St. Thomas is preparing for the third anniversary celebration of the new Columban Hall. Solicitations are being made for photographs of the original and present Columban Hall, including church activities and/or construction. All photographs will be scanned and immediately returned. CARIBBEAN CRUISE

The St. Joseph Workers of Holy Family Church on St. Thomas will host a seven-day cruise aboard Princess Cruise's Crown Princess beginning November 24. The ship will sail from Puerto Rico to St. Thomas, St. Kitts, Grenada, Bonaire and Aruba. For cabin prices, call Orville Rousse, President of the St. Joseph Workers, at (340) 775-2890.

 

SECULAR FRANCISCAN CONFERENCE

Sr. Germaine Convery, WIF, of St. Ann Church on St. Croix represented the Franciscans of the Virgin Islands at the XVII Congress of Secular Franciscans held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on July 3-8. Approximately 500 participants from the United States and the Caribbean attended the conference entitled "Many Cultures through Francis in Christ."

Fr. Eric Law, a Missioner for Congregation Development of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, was the keynote speaker. His stated goal was "to create and facilitate spirit-filled environments in which the people of God are empowered to respect the dignity of every human being while being fully aware of the differences in culture, race, gender, age and ability that exist among us."

Other workshops included "Care-giving and the Elderly", "Secular Franciscans in the Catechetical Ministry" and "Divine Providence and Our Secular Life."
