SCHOOL MASS

Fr. Alfonso Guzman, OFM, a visiting priest, prepared with 10th grade altar servers Charles Moorehead (left) and Jordon Paul (right) for St. Joseph High School's Mass at St. Joseph Church on St. Croix on August 30. In his homily, Fr. Guzman reflected on how his vocation to the priesthood was sparked by attending daily Mass at a Catholic school in Puerto Rico.

ATHLETE

Ashlie Walker, an 11 th grader at St. Joseph High School, went to Copenhagen, Denmark, July 21 to August 8 as part of a soccer team representing the Virgin Islands. She scored over ten goals in games against teams from Denmark, Germany, Norway and Sweden. The Virgin Islands team came in second place out of eight teams.

JUNIOR STATESMEN

Bianca Acevedo and Luanda Garcia, 12th grade students at St. Joseph High School on St. Croix, attended the Junior Statesmen of America program from June 20 to July 21. Ms. Acevedo participated at Princeton University and Ms. Garcia participated at Yale University.

DINNER RAISES FUNDS FOR SCHOOL

Rev. Dr. George Franklin, Principal of Ss. Peter and Paul School on St.

Thomas, posed with his sister, Sr. Audrey Abel, WIF, at the school's fundraising dinner at Palms Court Harborview Hotel on St. Thomas on August 12. Fr. Franklin was honored for his twenty years of priestly service to the Diocese of St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands. The dinner raised over $10,000 towards rebuilding and equipping the school library and school laboratory.
