
Over 100 invited guests attended as Very Rev. Neil Scantlebury, Rector of Ss. Peter and Paul Cathedral on St. Thomas, celebrated Mass and officiated at the renewal of vows for his parents. Deacon Keith and Myrna Scantlebury celebrated 50 years of marriage at St. Francis Church in Garden St. James, Barbados, on July 28.
Deacon Scantlebury is the only permanent deacon in Barbados. He has been a deacon for 30 years, and has served at St. Francis Church for the past seven years.
Holy Family Church will celebrate the third anniversary of the reopening of Columban Hall with a luncheon at the newly air-conditioned hall on Sunday, October 7, at 1:00 p.m. Tickets are $40 for adults and $25 for children.

Local youth with intellectual disabilities participated in Camp Shriver St. Thomas, an athletic sports camp sponsored by Catholic Charities of the Virgin Islands, at Antilles School's Marin Center from July 23 to August 3. The camp permitted these special children to develop physical fitness and experience friendships through exercise, kick ball, soft ball, volleyball and swimming.

The Sunflower Summer Fun Splash Camp held its closing ceremony at St. Gerard Hall on August 5. Under the leadership of Elizabeth Jacob, Camp Director, campers participated in a steel pan presentation, the platting of the maypole, quadrille dance presentation (pictured above), and the crowing of Lil' Ms. & Mr. Sunflower. The campers also displayed their arts and crafts.
The summer camp continues to be made possible by a grant from the Law Enforcement Planning Commission (LEPC) and the sponsorship of St. Patrick Church, St. Patrick School and the St. Patrick School Alumni Association.
