
Msgr. Jerome Feudjio, Pastor of Holy Family Church on St. Thomas, has been named the treasurer of SIGNIS Caribbean at its annual meeting August 20-21 in Port of Spain, Trinidad. SIGNIS International is a pontifical organization, with headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, and Rome, Italy. SIGNIS Caribbean is a regional affiliate comprised of representatives from Caribbean nations providing support and coordination for Catholic media in the Caribbean.

Prayers are solicited for the repose of the souls of Fr. Joseph Adamec, CSsR, Deacon Robert Brady and Imelda Matthew.
Fr. Adamec served at Holy Cross Church on St. Croix from 1984 to 1988. Fr. Adamec died at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church rectory in New York City on August 19. The New York native had traveled from his Boston assignment to celebrate a Mass in Czech. He was 81 years old. He was buried in Boston on August 28.
Deacon Brady was ordained in the Diocese of St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands in 2002 and served at Holy Family Church on St. Thomas and St. Ann Church on St. Croix until he and his wife Susan relocated to South Carolina in October 2004. There he served at St. Mary Magdalene Church in Simpsonville and taught religion to Grades 7 and 8 at St. Joseph School in Greenville, where several months ago he was named Teacher of the Year. He died August 31. The school has since started a scholarship fund in his name.
Imelda Matthew is the mother of Marla Matthew, Principal of St. Joseph High School on St. Croix. Ms. Matthew died on August 15 and was buried on August 27 after a funeral Mass at St. Patrick Church.
The Diocese of St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands has two job openings on St. Thomas. The Catholic Chancery seeks an accountant/bookkeeper and Catholic Charities seeks an Assistant to the Executive Director to do grant writing and management. Magnificat, an international ministry to Catholic women, will sponsor a three-day seminar entitled "Empowerment of the Holy Spirit" at Light of Christ Retreat Center on St. Croix on October 19-21. Guest speakers will teach how to find a deeper awareness of the Holy Spirit, what it means to live a life in the Holy Spirit and how to maintain that life. Registration is $50. Magnificat requests that participants pre-register. Magnificat members have forms and further information at all St. Croix parishes.
Classes for men considering ordination to the diaconate will resume on Thursday, October 4, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church on St. Thomas. Fr. John Mark, Director of the Diaconate, will teach the first trimester, a study on the dogma of the Blessed Trinity.
