October is the month of the Rosary, and most congregations prayed the chaplet before or after Mass. Some congregations also prayed outside the church buildings as an outreach and as a testimony to the faith. At Ss. Peter and Paul Cathedral on St. Thomas, members of the English-speaking community participated in Rosary Walks through the local streets on Saturday mornings (pictured above) and the Spanish-speaking community gathered nightly in designated homes for prayers (pictured below).

The feast day of St. Francis of Assisi was October 4, and in honor of his renowned love for animals, local priests celebrated with a blessing of pets. Pictured above, Fr. Charles Crespo, Parochial Vicar at Ss. Peter and Paul Cathedral, is shown blessing a rabbit at Ss. Peter and Paul School on October 4. Pictured below, Msgr. John Conway is shown blessing a dog outside the front entrance of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church on St. John on October 6.
