THE LEGION OF MARY'S TRAVELING MADONNA  

Each week since 1997, the Legion of Mary's Presidium Mary, Mediatrix of all Graces, has relocated an image of Our Lady of Fatima to the home of anyone on St. Thomas who agrees to pray the rosary each day for a week.

LOCAL HUNGER AND HOMELESSNESS AWARENESS

 Catholic Charities of the Virgin Islands, Inc., (CCVI) will participate in National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week on November 11-17 along with other members of the Interagency Council and the Continuum of Care. This is the fifth consecutive year of Virgin Islands participation in the national effort to bring public awareness to the problems of hunger and homelessness during the week before Thanksgiving.

 The week's activities will begin with a Day of Prayer for the poor and homeless. Pastors on all three islands have been asked to include prayers for the poor and homeless in their church services on Saturday, November 10, and Sunday, November 11.

 The sponsoring agencies will lead food drives to assist homeless shelters, soup kitchens and outreach centers. Individuals and groups are encouraged to write letters to their senators concerning the growing population of homeless persons and the need for action to address the problem. High School students on St. Thomas will participate in an essay contest, "Caring for the Homeless: Whose Job Is It?" St. Croix activities will culminate with an "Evening of Dining" on Friday, November 16, when the homeless population will be invited to a sit-down dinner in Christiansted.

 Catholic Charities will participate in Project Homeless Connect on Friday, November 16. The event is being sponsored by the United Way of St. Thomas/St. John in cooperation with the Virgin Islands Department of Human Services and the Interagency Council on Homelessness. Mainstream and community-based organizations working with the homeless population will be at Lionel Roberts Stadium from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. to assist homeless individuals gain access to services. Food, clothing and personal care kits will be distributed. Donations are being requested for these items. Call CCVI for more information about all these activities.

 Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church hosts a breakfast on November 2 and all First Fridays after the 7:00 a.m. Mass.

 ALL SOULS DAY

 Place a flower by the altar to recall your deceased loved ones at Mass at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church on Friday, November 2, at 8:30 a.m. or 7:00 p.m.

 THANKSGIVING LUNCHEON

 Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church hosts a community meal in the Guadalupe Hall on Thursday, November 22, at noon.

 LEGION OF MARY

 Presidium Mary, Queen of Angels, meets in the Guadalupe Hall of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church on Saturdays at 7:30 p.m.

 SILENT EUCHARISTIC ADORATION

 Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church hosts an hour of silence before the Blessed Sacrament on Thursdays at 6:00 p.m.

 EVENINGS OF CHARISMATIC PRAYER

 Charismatic prayer meetings are held at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church on Thursdays at 7:00 p.m.

 HEALING MASSES

 A priest lays on hands for physical, spiritual, emotional and psychological healing at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church on Fridays at the 8:30 a.m. Mass.
